1988年汉城奥运会在东方举行，韩国人选择较具东方色彩的小老虎做为汉城奥运会的吉祥物，取名为 Hodori。这个名叫“Hodori”的老虎被设计成为一只友善的动物，代表了韩国人热情好客的传统。吉祥物的名字是从2295个由公众提交的名字中挑选出来的。“Ho”来自于韩语的虎，而“Dori”是韩国人称呼小男孩常用的一种爱称。
1992年西班牙巴塞罗那夏季奥运会吉祥物Cobi
吉祥物是一只又像山羊又像狗的动物，取名为 Cobi。组委会为了宣传奥运会，在西班牙的电视里特地为它制作连续剧。这个由西班牙当地漫画家扎维尔·玛瑞斯克设计的小狗Cobi一开始并未被西班牙人普遍接受，但随着奥运会的结束，Cobi慢慢的流行了起来，并且逐渐受到了西班牙人和世界的喜爱。

1996年亚特兰大夏季奥运会吉祥物“I” 是第一个用电脑制作出的吉祥物。它是一个幻想出来的生物，被起名叫做“i”。这个名字来源于“Whatizit”。因为没有人能看出它到底像什么。在1992年巴塞罗那奥运会结束以后它改变了几次形象。最后它得到了一张嘴，并在眼睛上增加了闪亮的星星，同时原先细长的腿上增加了肌肉，脸上也长出了鼻子。

2000年悉尼奥运会吉祥物Ollie、Syd和Millie 设计者：马修 哈顿。吉祥物是三个澳洲本土动物，分别代表了土地、空气和水。Ollie代表了奥林匹克的博大精深（来自于奥林匹克）；Syd表现了澳洲和澳洲人民的精神与活力（来自于悉尼）；Millie是一个信息领袖，在它的指尖上有资料和数据(来自千禧年)。
2004年希腊雅典夏季奥运会吉祥物Athena（雅典娜）和Phevos（费沃斯）

晶晶是一只憨态可掬的大熊猫，无论走到哪里都会带给人们欢乐。作为中国国宝，大熊猫深得世界人民的喜爱。
晶晶来自广袤的森林，象征着人与自然的和谐共存。他的头部纹饰源自宋瓷上的莲花瓣造型。晶晶憨厚乐观，充满力量，代表奥林匹克五环中黑色的一环。
欢欢是福娃中的大哥哥。他是一个火娃娃，象征奥林匹克圣火。欢欢是运动激情的化身，他将激情散播世界，传递 更快、更高、更强的奥林匹克精神。欢欢所到之处，洋溢着北京2008对世界的热情。
欢欢的头部纹饰源自敦煌壁画中火焰的纹样。他性格外向奔放，熟稔各项球类运动，代表奥林匹克五环中红色的一环。
迎迎是一只机敏灵活、驰骋如飞的藏羚羊，他来自中国辽阔的西部大地，将健康的美好祝福传向世界。迎迎是青藏高原特有的保护动物藏羚羊，是绿色奥运的展现。
迎迎的头部纹饰融入了青藏高原和新疆等西部地区的装饰风格。他身手敏捷，是田径好手，代表奥林匹克五环中黄色的一环。
妮妮来自天空，是一只展翅飞翔的燕子，其造型创意来自北京传统的沙燕风筝。“燕”还代表燕京(古代北京的称谓)。妮妮把春天和喜悦带给人们，飞过之处播撒“祝您好运”的美好祝福。
天真无邪、欢快矫捷的妮妮将在体操比赛中闪亮登场，她代表奥林匹克五环中绿色的一环
